Great for writing or speaking engagements
Bought this for a friend who dies public speaking. He lives using “quotes”. Came quickly!

“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.” — Oscar Wilde
Paul Brown has obviously spent hours collecting the ‘best 1000 quotes’ and while there are many sources of quotes from which to choose, this collection is a cogent one in that Paul shares his feelings about the significance of quotes: ‘The good quote summarizes an idea or a thought. It presents an idea in a particularly enlightening way and it gives reader the liberty to imagine what lies under the surface that was never seen before. Quotes are really beneficial because they can inspire you to make your life better but you must first read them….’Unlike other authors who categorize their quote collections, Paul simply lets the words of many different types of people speak for them selves. Some examples follow:“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.” — Albert Einstein. “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.’ — Oscar Wilde, “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.” — J.K. Rowling, “Without music, life would be a mistake.” — Friedrich Nietzsche, “It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.” — André Gide, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” — Mother Teresa, and many more. Not only is this a solid little collection of inspiring quotes, but it is also and very well selected set of quotes for writers, for speechmakers, or for sending notes to loved ones. Recommended. Grady Harp, July 15

    Awesome Collection of Quotes!
I am in love with this book. I am not saying here that I have read all the thousand quotes mentioned in this book but at least I have gone through more than 300. I must say sheer work hard work is involved in compilation of this book. You can save time of searching for quotes on internet. Highly recommended for people who use quotes to update their statuses on social media. It will make you laugh and emotional. Indeed it is a mixture of valuable words!!!

1,000 Quotes Paul Brown Likes From A Handful Of Authors, Books, And Other Folks
Like many people, I love reading quotes and inspirational words from individuals of varying backgrounds and walks of life. With that being the case, I purchased this book that boasts the 1,000 greatest quotes of all time. I figured that some of the quotes contained in this publication would be fairly familiar to most people but I felt that there would be a lot of great material none the less. Sadly, this book does not deliver on its promise. A more apt title would be “1,000 Quotes Paul Brown Likes From A Handful Of Authors, Books, And Other Folks”.I’ve read over half of the book and I can honestly say that where there are some very thoughtful quotations included, a lot of so-called quotes are just lines from popular books and movies. Sadly, this publication has not been as enjoyable as I had hoped when I purchased it.I will finish it and have read some interesting words of wisdom from people like Maya Angelou, Albert Einstein, and Martin Luther King, Jr. but I can do without lines from “Harry Potter” and “Twilight”. I think there’s a portion of Cassandra Clare’s “City Of Bones” on every other page and I know I’ve read one quote twice so technically there’s only 999 quotes at best.I guess what I’m saying is if you just need material to caption your Facebook and Instagram pictures, this book should do the trick but don’t expect anything earth-shattering here. This collection is ok at best but by no means the greatest of all time.

    Revealing
Sometimes the quotes chosen reveal a lot abt the chooser. I enjoyed it but not the lo ger ones. I think a pithy short quote has more punch. Still good.

  9. Abdus Sami

    Good food for thought.

If you want a good book for quotes….It is a book. (Let)It has quotes. It is written neither thematicaly notlr alphabetical by author. So its a salad.Also.I am on page twenty and still have not found a single good quote that is not to be seen in a meme on FB.Also most modern quotes are rechewed ones from superficial pop idols that are clueless.Sorry.One of the three books i regret buying this year.Look for a normal big book from a big house.I try not to he negative but this is beyond my capability to holster. This book is one of the reasons people stop reading. So sorry 😔

Good selection of quotes but maybe just a bit too heavy on the Harry Potter stuff for us muggles. Some of my favourites are here tho so it’s a good place to keep them together and highlighted for future reference.
